 Presenting the L.N.H.C.M., Arek – Sahag Daghlian wins the 3rd Prize in an International Piano Competition in Rabat, Morocco

Arek - Sahag Daghlian is a 20-year-old Lebanese Armenian young pianist who is specializing in piano performance in the National Higher Conservatory of Lebanon, which is under the presidency and supervision of Dr. Walid Mousallem. Arek Daghlian is in the class of Mrs. Angela Hadishian, who with her professional approach and teaching talent guided many students towards success.

Arek participated in the International Piano Competition of Rabat, named after H.R.H Princess Lalla Meryem, which was held from November 1 until November 8, 2014. He was the only representative of Lebanon. On the 5th of November Arek performed in the “Excellence” category by presenting the following three pieces and won the 3rd prize:

  • GRANADOS : “El Pelele” from “Goyescas” (Imposed piece)
  • BEETHOVEN : Sonate “Clair de lune” op.27 n°2
  • ABRAHAMYAN : Prélude n°19 in Sol # minor

The juries of the following international piano competition were famous and internationally renowned virtuoso pianists from different countries:

  • Dominique Merlet – President of the Jury (France)
  • Ghizlane Hamadi – President, founder and the artistic director (Morocco)
  • Krystian Tkaczewski (Poland)
  • Daniele Petralia (Italy)
  • Adriano Jordao (Portugal)
  • Daniel Del Pino (Spain)
  • Marouan Benabdallah (Morocco-Hungary)
  • Sontraud Speidel (Germany)
  • Véronique Guillo (France)
  • Myrian Dauelsberg (Brazil)

Let us note that this year is the 20th anniversary of International Piano Competition of H. R.H Princess Lalla Meryem; a member of “ Alink-Argerich Foundation” since 2011.

Participating in an international competition of highly importance and receiving the 3rd prize specially in the “Excellence” category is a proof that Arek Daghlian has taken his solid steps in the world of classical music, which in the future will lead him to international worldwide stages.

As an indication of Arek Daghlian’s past achievements, in 2013 he participated in the “Renaissance” International Music Competition in Gyumri, Armenia and received the 3rd Laureate in his age group.

Apart from music as a dominant part of his life, Arek is a Biology student in the Lebanese International University.

We wish Arek Daghlian perseverant success and a bright future in music career, as he is a pride to his country Lebanon and to the Armenian nation as well.
